HNC Musical Theatre

Our HNC Musical Theatre course is highly practical, with 30 contact hours per week. Our professional staff provide essential training for the dynamic industry. The course covers one academic year, including mandatory units like singing, jazz dance, performance, and repertoire. Additional units cover commercial, Shakespeare, personal development, audition technique, ballet, and strength & conditioning.

Students can also take a PAA exam in Musical Theatre. The material is suitable for PAA exams, performed in groups for an independent examiner. Higher Grade levels (Grades 6-8) carry UCAS points, aiding further education applications after the HNC Musical Theatre course.

HNC Acting & Performance

Our HNC Acting & Performance course is highly practical, offering 30 contact hours per week. Our industry professionals provide essential training to develop the skills needed in this fast-paced industry. The course spans one academic year (three full terms), covering mandatory units such as acting for camera, movement for the actor, and voice. Additional units include Shakespeare, performance and personal development, audition technique, and accent work.

Students can also take a PAA exam in Acting. The material studied is suitable for PAA exams, performed in groups for an independent examiner. Higher Grade levels (Grades 6-8) carry UCAS points, which can be beneficial for further education applications after completing the HNC Acting & Performance course.

Full-Time Training

Our HNC courses offer a one-year, full-time professional experience, preparing students for the industry or further education in the arts. Students gain technical knowledge and skills in acting, singing, and dance from highly qualified staff, equipping them for the industry’s demands.

Course Fees

Our course fees for 2024/2025 are £3995.

Deposit (upon acceptance) : £200

SAAS Contribution : £1205

9 monthly instalments (Sept – May) :

£287.78 per month

Optional PAA exams and performance trips are separate additional fees. Uniform and study materials are not included.

 

AEA is a private training institution. Our course is supported by government funding (SAAS) and in addition to this, students are eligible to apply for a student loan.

How To Apply

Entry to our full-time training is by audition only. Auditions assess applicants’ skills, suitability, motivation, and passion for the industry. The audition day also provides an opportunity to experience AEA, meet prospective students, and interact with our staff, who can answer any questions.

For HNC courses, applicants should be of school leaving age, having completed S4 at secondary school. Qualifications (Nat 5 or similar) in Drama, Dance, or Music, and performance experience are beneficial, though not required.

Applicants will participate in workshops in acting, singing, and dance, and prepare material for a 1-to-1 audition. An interview with the Academy Principal and another staff member will follow.
